Assistant Buyer (Greengoods & Hardgoos) Posted 6/4/25

Full Time

If you are someone who can balance spreadsheets and build relationships with equal enthusiasm, we’d love to meet you! You’re the sort of organized person who enjoys being challenged by different tasks throughout your day, with a mix of working on the computer, getting outside to check on product, or getting on the phone with vendors or answering customer questions. You equally enjoy the behind-the-scenes work and knowing how accurate data keeps the operation running smoothly and being face-forward in the garden center to keep our product selection fresh, relevant, and inspiring. You like working with people and supporting a team, but you’re also confident working solo on projects.

If this sounds like you, you could be our next our Assistant Buyer! Our Assistant Buyer will support and assist the General Manager and Buying Team in sourcing, ordering, and managing inventory for our garden center. You’ll assist the GM in product selection and purchasing duties of both plants and hardgoods, as well as create and maintain accurate purchase orders, receiving, and committing. You’ll monitor stock levels, perform product merchandising, assist with inventory counts, build relationships with vendors, and support our garden center sales staff with product knowledge.

  • Previous retail, buying, or inventory management experience preferred (garden center experience a plus but not mandatory – if you’re the right fit we’ll train you).

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and retail inventory management systems. We currently use Counterpoint POS so experience with it is a plus.

  • Solid organizational skills and a comfort with accurate data entry.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and a friendly, team-oriented personality.

  • A curiosity or passion for plants, gardening, or outdoor living is a big plus!
